Motivation is a gift given to you
by God. Within all of us is a powerful tool that we can use to change our world
and build a better future. The question is how to harness the power of this
wonderful gift. As a Mayor, I was often called upon to make speeches and
presentations to community organizations and various groups. I worked with top
government officials and executives of some of the most successful businesses
in
Yes, it was the children who inspired me the most. They have yet to be taught to be skeptical, they have no idea about their own limitations, and they still use their imaginations in ways that we as adults have simply forgotten. You see children have nothing to lose, they are not afraid to venture forth in exploring our world. While your mind is a spectacular creation, it can also be limited by learned behaviors. You must let your mind be free to utilize its creativity. Our greatest world leaders were those who dared to think out of the box. They stood up and accomplished what others said could not be done. They dared to be different.
Others are always telling us what we can or cannot do and we are constantly living in fear that we may lose what we have worked so hard to acquire. We often get lost in the daily grudge of tasks that we forget to even enjoy the simple beauty that surrounds us. When we place limitations on ourselves we lose our motivation to achieve at the highest levels.
The valuable lessons I have learned from children are so simple:
1. Open your mind to new adventures. Forget about the limitations that you or others have placed on You. Begin to challenge life with a sense of urgency.
2. Set your goals high and reach for things you may have never thought possible.
3. Ignore the critics who only can bring you down and believe in yourself and your ability to accomplish great things.
4. Most of all love others with no expectation of any kind of return whatsoever.
Harnessing the power of motivation is a learned behavior. You must learn to think positively and develop a plan of action. Each day take the time to write down your goals and follow your plan. Success builds on success. Motivation must become a planned event and a long term habit.
Motivation is simply a desire to use your God given gift of freewill to accomplish those things that you have placed value in. The more value that you place in an item the more you will be motivated to accomplish your dreams and goals. A child understands and appreciates the simple value of life. Life is a wonderful journey. Take control and make sure you appreciate the wonderful gift that God has given you!
